So Brave talks with Helen Beeley, Physio and breast cancer thriver
Listen in as Jen, Rachelle and Helen discuss the importance of a physiotherapist as part of your team during breast cancer, and the impact of lymphoedema.
About our guest: Helen Beeley is a physiotherapist with 28 years experience including cancer care, palliative care and lymphoedema therapy. She currently works at UQ Healthy Living - an over 50's clinic in Toowong, Brisbane. Helen was diagnosed with breast cancer at the start of Australia's lockdown in 2020. She continued powerlifting during and beyond active treatment. Helen is frustrated that many cancer survivors are not told about the benefits of exercise during and beyond active treatment. Helen has an instagram page to promote cancer exercise medicine and help fellow cancer survivors manage fatigue, pain and lymphoedema.
Check out her imaginative and often hilarious reminders and posts on her instagram page, full of useful and important health advice!
